Recipe: Spiced and Cider Spiked Sangria


  • 2 cinnamon sticks

  • 12 whole cloves

  • 3 whole allspice

  • 2 slices fresh ginger

  • 1/2 cup sugar

  • 1/2 cup water

  • 1/2 cup Apple Country Spirits Plum Brandy

  • 1/4 cup fresh lime juice

  • 1 large orange or blood orange, cut in half lengthwise and then sliced

  • 1 large bottle Rootstock 2017 Heritage Hard Cider


  1. Break up the cinnamon sticks and lightly crush the spices

  2. In a small saucepan, combine the crushed spices, ginger, sugar, and water

  3. Place over medium-high heat and bring to a quick boil

  4. Immediately remove from heat and let steep for 30 minutes

  5. Strain and discard solids

  6. In a large pitcher, combine the cooled syrup, plum brandy, lime juice and sliced orange

  7. Cover and let sit in the refrigerator overnight for the orange to infuse into the mixture

  8. To serve, add the cider to the chilled mixture and stir

  9. Pour over ice and include a slice of orange with each serving

  10. Enjoy!
